About
me
I am a mother
of three children born in 1999, 2002 and 2006. Two of my children were
born at home in water and my first was born with no difficulties in hospital.
I first decided I wanted to help other women and their partners during
their pregnancy and birth after having the most amazing, beautiful experience
of birthing my second child.
I am passionate
about a woman's ability to give birth and feel every woman should enter
her chosen environment free from fear and ready to face the work of labour
and birth with real confidence in her strength and power.
I attended
Michel Odent's Paramanadoula
course and have worked closely with the local hospital and community midwives
in Kent where I had my children. I also ran a parent information evening
on the use of water for labour and birth with senior midwife Rosie Smith
for two years.I presented at a waterbirth study day in November 2007.
I am a member
of the NCT in North
Warrington and wish to train with them to be an antenatal teacher.
I am a Mother
Supporter with the Association of Breastfeeding
Mothers and I am undergoing training as a volunteer helper with the
Breastfeeding Network.
I am a member
of the Wigan Association of Radical
Midwives and regularly attend their meetings.
I also hope
to train to be a Birthing
from Within Mentor.
I co-run the
birth choices group "Bumps 2 Babies" which will meet on the
first Tuesday of the month in Leigh starting in May 2008 - please contact
me for more information on this group by phoning me on 07870125082.
